Fault History Database

Gulfstream G450

Eddie sez:

The CMC has a better memory than you and sees things you can't. If you have a maintenance issue you might be asked to download the CMC's Fault History Database onto a USB stick and send the file to Gulfstream. Here's how you do that.

Everything here is from the references shown below, with a few comments in an alternate color.

Fault History Database Download

[Gulfstream Planeview Software Loading, §3.0]

Connect the aircraft laptop to the aircraft LAN.

This is described in G450 PlaneView Update.

  1. From the CMC Main Menu select EXTENDED MAINTENANCE.
  2. From the EXTENDED MAINTENANCE select REPORTS.
  3. From the REPORTS menu select either ACMF REPORTS or CMC REPORTS. Selecting “EXPORT FAULT HISTORY” will download the entire Fault History Database (FHDB).
  4. In our version of the CMC, the correct choice here is "Generate Reports"

  5. SEND TO → LOCAL STORAGE
  6. You will have to scroll down to and select "Export Fault History" and then "Send to -> Local Storage

From this point the CMC will send its fault history to the remote terminal (the laptop) and it writes a file to the laptop's hard drive. The default location is:

C:\CMC\REPORTS

There you will find the file, or more than one file after you've done this before. The format is something like: "FHDB_GIV_...SN..._DATETIME.ZIP" You drag (copy) this file to a USB stick and from there e-mail to your contact at Gulfstream Technical Operations for translation.
