AFM Procedure

[AFM, §02-05-30

  1. ATIS . . . Received
  3. Approach Briefing . . . Perform
  4. HUD / EVS . . . Deploy / Check
  5. NOTE

Select the Wing and Cowl Anti-ice systems On when entry into icing conditions is anticipated. WAI system performance is improved if wings reach steady state temperature prior to entering icing conditions.

If icing conditions exist or may exist during approach and landing, wing anti-ice must be selected on and confirmed to be operating in the normal temperature range prior to flap extension.

The use of WAI with TAT less than ‐7°C will result in increased engine idle settings (up to 47% N1) with an associated increase in idle thrust. The flight crew should anticipate the need to use speed brakes and higher airspeeds as required to achieve desired descent and arrival profiles. Engine idle settings will return to normal with TAT greater than ‐5°C or when the landing gear is down.

With speed brakes extended, it may be necessary to increase intermediate approach speeds by as much as 20 KCAS to remain above the low speed awareness indications. Speed brake extension with flaps Down or with landing gear extended is prohibited.

  6. CAI / WAI . . . As required
  7. CPCS Pressure Profile . . . Verify landing
