Possible Cause

BCU or brake hydraulic control failures.

System Impacts

  • Anti-Skid: Inoperative.

  • Autobrakes: Inoperative.

  • Pedal Braking: Inoperative.

Corrective Action

  1. Runway . . . Select longest with most favorable wind

  2. Landng Distance . . . Recalculate with a 2.1 factor

  3. Hydraulics Synoptics . . . Select

  4. If hydraulic pressure is not available to recharge both the Inbd and the Outbd Accumulators, or if time does not permit:

    1. PARKING BRAKE . . . Do not practice application of 600 PSI in flight

  5. If left and right hydraulic pressure is available to recharge both the Inbd and the Outbd Accumulators, and time permits:

    1. PARKING BRAKE . . . Practice application of 600 PSI in flight

  6. Approximately 1 minute prior to landing:

    1. AUX PUMP . . . ARMED / ON

  7. Landing

    1. CAUTION

      EXCEEDING 600 PSI INDICATED BRAKE PRESSURE MAY CAUSE SKIDDING TIRES AND AT HIGH GROUNDSPEEDS WILL RESULT IN TIRE FAILURE.

      NOTE

      Because each hydraulic system has independent accumulators, the Parking Brake pressure will reflect the respective accumulator pressure; however, the outboard brake pressure, if available, will approximately match the same value as the inboard brake pressure.

    2. Thrust Reversers (Left and Right) . . . Apply maximum

    3. PARKING BRAKE Handle . . . As required to maintain no greater than 600 PSI

    4. As the airplane decelerates through 20 knots groundspeed:

    5. NOTE

      Tires skidding at less than or equal to 20 knots groundspeed will not cause significant tire damage.

      (1) PARKING BRAKE Handle . . . Pull to maximum brake pressure.
