KDFW

Airport Operating Notes

KDFW uses the Runway Status Light System (RWSL), Takeoff Hold Lights (THLs), Runway Entrance Light (RELs), Takeoff Hold Lights (THLs), and the Final Approach Runway Occupancy Signal (FAROS) system. If you aren't familiar, see the KDFW Airport Lighting article or the airport diagram pages starting at KDFW 60-8. There is any excellent video on the subject at: http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/technology/rwsl/.

ASDE-X surveillance system is used, operate transponder with Mode C on all taxiways and runways.

Arrival Notes

Be careful with the difference between an ILS approach and a Converging ILS approach for many of the runways. The FMS missed approach procedure will be for the straight ILS approach. If you accept a clearance to a converging ILS approach, the missed approach in your FMS will not agree with the cleared approach procedure. (You will have to fly the missed approach on raw data.)

If you aren't familiar, see the KDFW Airport Lighting article or the airport diagram pages starting at KDFW 60-8.
